Google Adsense Gone For Good
August 3, 2008 – 2:02 pmAll last month, we kept hoping that Google’s “contextual” ads would figure out that they needed to show Harrisonburg-specific results, or at least results related to what people were blogging about. They didn’t, and so it really came as little shock that the ads stopped bringing in any revenue whatsoever. Today the final straw came in the form of an ad entitled “Detroit Divorce Lawyer”.
Now we can put up with ads that don’t get clicks so long as they’re not too distracting, but as Google kept presenting ads which had absolutely nothing of interest for you the visitors, we finally decided that they had to go. The adsense ads are down, and there are no plans to ever bring them back.
Good riddance.
In more positive news, July was our best ever month for site traffic, so at least people seemed willing to overlook those dumb ads. Thanks everyone for your patience and we hope you continue to enjoy the site.

Mason, may I suggest that you contact Ryan at golookon.com to see if he’d be interested in advertising on hbblogs.com.
